Why Do Things Seem So Messed Up in My Christian life?

Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

What do you do when life throws you a curve ball and things don't go exactly as you had planned or wanted? Do you become bitter, blaming "luck" or God? OR, do you let the grace of God sustain you no matter how tough the going becomes?

It is important that we remember to allow grace to fill us and make us whole even in the hardest of times; if we don't allow that, a bitter root can grow very fast! Too often we associate grace with forgiveness only, and that is not so. Think of it this way: Love is the root of the Spiritual tree, Grace is the trunk or body of the tree and it springs forth the branches of forgiveness, mercy, kindness, acceptances, understanding etc... The Holy Spirit is the water flowing through the entire tree keeping it nourished and of course, all of this is from God through His Son Jesus!

My grandmother was a very kind and loving woman. Some of you reading this will remember my grandmother as being quite, giving and never wanting to be in or start a conflict. Sounds good doesn't it? However, my grandmother had a small problem that would reveal itself at a particularly odd time. Those of us closest to her knew that if we had been involved in any disagreement with grandma in the day, we only had to wait until she went to sleep to find out how she really felt. You see, my grandmother talked in her sleep, BAD!!!!! This kind, wonderful woman would say some pretty harsh pointed things during her sleep because she had let the root of bitterness grow inside of her.

Just like my dear grandmother, when troubles hit us we may handle them well in all appearances to others on the outside, but it is what is on the inside that matters. I truly believe I will see my grandma in heaven someday but boy did she have conflict resolution issue with those around her! LOL

It is important though that we do not let that root of bitterness grow in us towards our Savior and Father. I know how hard it can be to want something or pray for something and never receive it. Worse yet, when things go against us in this world the temptation stands strong to blame God or at least speak of His fairness or there the lack of. That is satan putting things into our minds. We have to turn to the grace of God to comfort and bring us through life even when we don't understand.it.

The devil will take advantage of the situations in life where things did not live up to our expectations and try to tell us that God is to blame for it. It is his ultimate pleasure to help us avoid the arms of grace in those situations and sow the seeds of discontent and anger. His goal is for none of us to make the Kingdom and he uses these situation to do it, so be very aware in times of discouragement that you do not blame God or let yourself began to grow the bitter root about how life has treated you. The bitter root leads to defilement if allowed to fester and grow. Nothing defiled will enter the Kingdom of God. His grace and mercy, forgiveness and renewal can wipe away any and all bitterness and present us spotless and new before our King!!

We are citizens of another country; Heaven. So no wonder things don't seem to go right down here!!!

Remember, God's Got This!!!
