20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20
God keeps every promise He makes. When we walk in intimate fellowship with Christ, we have the assurance that every promise God has made in Scripture is available to us. This truth should motivate us to search the Scriptures for each promise in order to meditate upon its potential for our life.
Jesus promised that when you ask for something in His will, He will give you what you ask, John 16: 23b. This promise is available to every Christian. If you are not experiencing this promise, it does not change the fact that God has said it. You may need to seek God' answer for why His promise has not reached maturity in you yet.
Don't become discouraged or impatient if you are not experiencing to the fullest all of God's promises in your life. God may want to prepare you to receive some of the great truths He has made available to you. Walk closely with your Lord and, in time, you will see Him bring His promises to fruition in your life. Experiencing God- Henry Blackaby.
Is it not a tremendous comfort to know that God never goes back on His promises??!!! My kids have said that I never promise anything to them that I do not know I can keep. While I love their loyalty and love for me to say that, I am human and have not met all of my promises over time. Even with my best efforts; I still fall short!
Not God though! God has never broken a promise and still to this day is delivering upon His Word to us! The problem comes in with the verse mentioned above where Jesus says if you pray in my name you will be granted your prayer. Many people believe that all I have to do is ask and Jesus will do or give. Then if He doesn't give or do what I ask for, it means He doesn't hear my prayers, love me, care, want me.....and so on! Another great deception by satan to discourage Christians! Prayer has always been an open communication line between God and His children; ALWAYS! He would never shut out those He loves. However, we can of course walk so far away from God that prayer never enters our minds and we close out heart to God; it's not Him, it us.
We have to realize that prayer is to be about bringing us into alignment with God, not Him into alignment with us. 1 John 5:14-15 says: 14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Notice what is the prerequisite of prayer being answered? "that if we ask anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL". Friends, this is the key for us and for Jesus when He walked this earth as well. When Jesus was in the garden prior to the crucifixion He prayed to the Father that, "this cup pass from me" then He went on to say, "nevertheless, Thy will be done". If Jesus Himself prayed for the will of God in His deepest hour when His brain and emotions were pleading for the cross not to be a part of His future, I think we should be praying for the will of God as well. Granted, His will is not always our will, but that is where faith comes in. We either believe God and His promises that He will do what is best and lead us, as we follow, to a home in the Kingdom OR we believe satan that tries to tell us our prayers are going no higher than the ceiling and God does not care. I for one wish to believe God and all He says, even if I don't understand it!!!
