2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” 4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” Exodus 3: 2-4
Moses was going through the routine of His day when he noticed an ordinary thing: a burning bush. Moses also noticed something extraordinary. Although the bush was burning, it was not consumed. Everything God had been doing for forty years in Moses' life was culminating in this moment. So much of God's redemptive plan waited for Moses to notice the uncommon in the midst of the common.
There will be times when, immersed in the ordinary details of life, you may be oblivious to the extraordinary that is right next to you! There may be times in your harried day you notice something unusual. In that moment you may have the opportunity for a unique encounter with God.
God usually speaks out of the ordinary experiences of life. Often, it is not while you are worshiping at church. Many of God's most profound and history-changing encounters come during the ordinary experiences of life. When you see something unusual in the midst of the mundane, don't continue business as usual. It may be that God has ordained that moment to be a life-changing time for you and those around you. Experiencing God- Henry Blackaby
Those that have worked with me over the years know that I have been blessed with being keenly aware of my surroundings and those in it. I notice things others seem not to and I can usually draw conclusions to situations much sooner than those around me. Not long ago I took and very high-level assessment that rated my awareness level so high, (higher than 95% of all who had ever taken the test), that the writers of the test thought I was either lying or cheating. LOL Not sure why God blessed me with it, but it has come in handy over the years.
In our daily walk, we need to be aware of those people and events around us. Too often people are placed in our path and events happen to awaken our spiritual mind to see something special God has for us, and we are too busy to notice. The Bible tells us that occasionally we even entertain angels and are unaware. What a loss for us in our Christian growth experience!
I made a decision years ago to think about, analyze the events of my day to see what I could learn from them to make me stronger and enhance my walk with God. In doing that, I have realized that God teaches and talks to us much more than we think He does and we miss a lot!!
Today, slow down a bit and pray that God will help you notice more about how He is trying to speak to you. Ask yourself during the course of the day, "What is God trying to tell me or teach me through this?" Pray that He will, through the Holy Spirit, make it very aware to you that He is speaking and what His message is. You will be amazed at what He will reveal to you!
Remember, no matter what you face today; God's got this!!!
